Almost Scammed in Bangkok

Wanted to share with you my near scammed experience during my recent trip to Bangkok. These guys are reallllly professional ...

Anyway, it's a adventure that is worth telling the kids, but I am sure glad I didn't make any impulsive purchase there.

I was just going through the internet on scams and actually found a site about bangkok scams. It's called the Thai Gem Scam Page.

It's detailed and tells you exactly what to do if you were actually cheated. Just go back to the store and demand your money back, from user experience on the site, it actually works but have to go through a lot of trouble. Amazing thing is that the police has declared that the situation is under control, which obviously isn't. I guess there's some politics involved.

Here's the place I ACTUALLY visited whilst being scooted around by the tuk tuk.

I came out without buying anything and saved a few thousand bucks.

I hope no other Singaporeans or other tourists for that matter will get scammed because these criminals are damn bloody good. Just DUN believe anything anyone on the streets says in Bangkok about buying discounted taxfree blue sapphire, jewellery, necklace, export centre blah blah blah, and ignore these jokers. And take the bloody taxi to get around town, and get these tuks tuks out of business.

Come to think of it, whilst walking out of the store, I saw an ang mo tourist walk in too. I hope he didn't get cheated.

NYE Part 1

It's a little late but how did you spend your NYE?

I was half working and half partying and ended up at 3 places throughout the night. I made the countdown with the Red Mob crew opposite Harbour Front - Seah Im Carpark.

There was 20 mins of firewerks which were reeaalllly boring after a while. I mean how long can one watch the fireworks. Yawn ...

So I started getting to get 'creative' with my camera ... some nice effects though ...

The Red Mob had a lively performance on stage and Heikel and the rapper literally tore the place apart ... was excellent that I had access to the stage front.

After the performance, the crew had another performance at the Mambo Jambo at Expo. We had to head off to the east side immediately. Lovely that we had a mini bus already catered for us.

Part 2 to be continued ....

Ok, I shan't say that but I really do need a mac. Prob a iBook, I think the new MacBook Pro are a little too high end for me ... hmmmm ....

Whale Stuck in River Thames ...

So apparantly, there's a nice whale that swam all the way from the open sea and INTO London. It ended up in the very busy River Thames, swimming past all the famous tourist spots, like Big Ben, Tate Modern, London Eye etc

It's kinda like a whale appearing at the Chao Phraya river in Bangkok or Boat Quay area in Singapore.

I visited River Thames when I was in London in 2001 - it's filled with all kinds of boats going in both directions.

Sad part was that the whale was apparantly too overstressed and died whilst it was bring transported by volunteers back to the ocean.
