Didnt manage to get his name, he couldn't stop grinning, guess he's pretty delirious after guarding the place for hundreds of years ...

Talk of the town - Ministry of Sound

Last weekend, our small island witnessed the opening of MoS, after a decade of waiting, or more like decades, anyway on the opening night - there was a super long queue. Luckily, moi got guest-list-thing going on and I am really really glad the door was quite good that night with the names.

Anyway, did massive amount of walking about finding different groups of pictures. Thing was I had already been there for the past 3 -4 nights for some work related stuff so I think I know the place in and out already, well of course not as well as the staff of course.

Favourite room has got to be Pure, unique concept though not new - and the music's Lola type, Hed Kandi style la. Happy vibes. Damn for some reason I don't have a picture but I have tons of pictures (showing absolutely no one) for 54 which plays yucky music.

I've love the hanging LEDs at the main area as well, def an inspiration for a roadshow concept soon!

Last but not least, we didn't forget flowers too for the typical congratulatory messages!

Not forgetting one of the rare pictures with me actually being in the photo ... Bel from Aslymn and me.

So do check it out soon, I personally think MoS has potential to last - let's see what they have up their sleeves in the next 3 - 6 months!

REALLY?

The results of your analysis say:

You plan ahead, and are interested in beauty, design, outward appearance, and symmetry.
You are a shy, idealistic person who does not find it easy to have relationships, especially intimate ones.
You are affectionate, passionate, expressive, and future-oriented.
You are a talkative person, maybe even a busybody!
You enjoy life in your own way and do not depend on the opinions of others.

What do you think?

Lonely Traveller

Back from reservist ... actually it's been more than a week but I have been skiving since I got out. Damn, the 2 weeks of staring at the wall and the trees have made me a little slow. But then again, I am not complaining since I think it's a well deserved break!

This month, hopefully, will be kinda slow at work. Couple of things going on but it sure as hell wun be as crazy as pre Xmas Fair days.

2 weeks time now, I will be at Bangkok! I think I managed to get a reasonably good deal off the flights - to BKK via JetStar and back to SG via AirAsia. Should be fun, only downer is that I haven't manage to find anyone to go with me. BUT it should be OK.

First time there ever in my life, but what the heck - I am not about to spend the 'between Xmas and NYE' week sitting around doing absolutely nothing while I can be bargaining for some nice T shirts at MBK.

I just hope I dun get mugged or ripped off.

I don't think I will be missing out on anything back home here since the main parties will be on Xmas EVE and NY EVE (Ferry Costen will be playing Zouk on Xmas DAY though). Oh well.

Anyway - Suilin and friends will be back in BORING Singapore (haha, downer right? Suilin if you reading this ...) this week, so should be a smashing weekend! Opening of Ministry of Sound too - let's see if me can get extra passes!

Moto Keishi!

Today, I managed to get my hands on the new Motorola V8, coming up in mid Dec or so in Singapore.

It looks like it's cousin, V3 RAZR, but this time it's in a chocolate bar shape. Looks like a best seller to me already. See at how thin it is!

Available in silver, and I think, black also - soon.

Check it out on motorola.com here. I think the SLVR (silver one) one might be a bit harder to find.

Whilst searching on the net, I also came across the V3i, an updated version of the popular V3. It comes now with expandable memory + a 1.23 megapixel camera.

And I heard, in some countries, it will be iTunes enabled.
Also, the original V3 will come in pink & blue colour (below).

What a dork I am, huh?

Tiong Bahru

Last Sunday morning, headed to Tiong Bahru for breakfast.

As you know, the old market no longer there, so there're a new food centre in place there. Somehow, EVERYBODY comes out to eat on Sunday morning, so it was massively crowded.

Also, there were so many fried carrot cakes & tiong bahru porridge copy cats that I didnt know which one was the real one anymore.

BUT, I did manage to capture some artistic moments at the area. I think they're damn nice considering I am only using a camera phone to shoot the pix.

Parents or Kids?

MRT

Got on the MRT today to get home from town. Has the standards dropped tremendously or what?

The aircon was not working; and it was utterly packed at some stations. Shd the frequency be increased knowing that today was a public holiday??

Anyway, I even saw kids sleeping on the MRT with pillows. I sure as hell wished they just bought them from a mall and not brought them from home. Even if they had just bought it, shouldn't take out to use on the MRT, right??

Yucks. Dunno the parents or kids something wrong ...

Vending Machines

Whilst I'm at it, I might as well put up some pictures I had been storing in my computer for a while.

Vending machines - hate them or love em? I think I'm up for the latter.

However, Singapore doesnt have much variety of vending machines, preferring to rely on proper retail store environment or person-to-person service (although the service is nothing to shout about either).

Anyway, here are some pictures from Japan - I think they practically invented the vending machine! Pictures taken off http://photomann.com/japan/machines/

Happy Toys

Found these happy creatures in a mall in the middle of Orchard Road over the weekend, celebrating some kind of launch of a next series of happy toys. I'm just naming all the toys "Happy Toys" cause they look so happy standing near one another.

I do know the Happy Toys with the horns are called evirob and are world famous la. Got people even want to queue up to ask for the autographs of the creators I think.

And then there's also Tofu Man (or at least I think that's the name). In the back pages of IdN, there's always 2 pages worth of Tofu man adventures; and the story always ends up in disaster (read: tofu boy tripping and spilling his tofu head all over space). Aiya, I don't know how it makes sense, but people love reading it la.

BTW, I just found out from a present copy of IdN tha Tofu man is actually called Coletto-fu.

So there was a toy figurine of a DJ too. Motorola also endorsed a couple of toy environment built ups.

Check out www.devilrobots.com - lots of happy pictures to see.

Stroopwaffles!

Alex, my Dutch 'buddy' during NUS time (2002) stopped over in Singapore for a business trip, and brought along a packet of this famous Dutch cookies. Yeh, one packet is all he brought. Bugger.

Literally it means 'syrup waffles' in English, and it's made of thinly sliced waffles stuck together with caramel syrup. Highly fattening, but super addictive.

Bring back a lot of memories during the times I was in Rotterdam.
